Be Yourself: Everybody Else is Taken

Our digital children & young people's project "Be Yourself: Everybody Else is Taken" was created to allow young people to talk about their lives in ways that suit them. We have worked with over 600 young people to gather artwork, poetry, photography, blogs & vlogs about health, physical & emotional, well-being & identity. The project is digital, children & young people sent us photos of their artwork which we shared, keeping the individuals details anonymous, on Pinterest and Flickr. Why the contribution is important

The project has promoted Healthwatch Dorset to children & young people and encouraged their participation. We are now working with local NHS, education and care providers to encourage them to listen to children & young people and involve them in the redesign of local services. This project has helped us build up a strong relationship with local schools, colleges, youth groups & young carers. We developed an Instagram account to promote this project and extended our use of social media. Children & young people who have taken part in our project have told us how being listened to & encouraged to share their stories has really helped them.
